Running in Bhutan was hard. Very hard. Now I fully understand just how utterly ridiculous the whole idea of the Olympus Marathon is. At 4,000 ft you I can hear my heart beating in my ears and can taste blood in my mouth. Because the soil was completely frozen I went over on my ankle numerous times. You won't get unspoilt scenery like this anywhere mind.
Running outside Paro attracted a great deal of attention. I don't think Bhutanese are used to seeing lycra clad westerners. Kids fired catapults at me I was chased by wild dogs, cars followed in a procession.
