I love coming to Melbourne. Not only do I get to work with the excellent people at Lonely Planet but always find time to run the Tan Track. Of all the city runs I've had the privilege to do this has to be one of my favourite.
As I normally stay downtown I cross cross the main bridge over the river and pass Finder's station. For the most part the track has botanical gardens running alongside. The sound of the birds, the smell and the humidity remind you that this isn't Regent's Park. There's a nasty hill on the far side of the loop. Once you've left it behind you run past Melbourn's war memorials before hitting the start of the loop again.
